Gynecomastia
Gynecomastia is a medical condition that causes the breast tissue in males to enlarge, resulting in a more feminine chest appearance. It can affect one or both breasts and can occur at any age.

Gynecomastia can be caused by a variety of factors, including hormonal imbalances, certain medications, medical conditions such as liver disease or obesity, and genetics. In many cases, the cause of gynecomastia is unknown.

The treatment for gynecomastia depends on the underlying cause and severity of the condition. In some cases, gynecomastia may resolve on its own over time. However, if the condition persists or is causing significant psychological distress, treatment options may include medication to correct hormonal imbalances or surgery to remove excess breast tissue.

Surgical treatment for gynecomastia, also known as male breast reduction, involves removing excess glandular tissue and/or fat through a combination of liposuction and excision techniques. The procedure is typically performed on an outpatient basis under general anesthesia and can take several hours to complete.

After the surgery, patients may experience swelling, bruising, and discomfort, which can be managed with medication and compression garments. Most patients are able to return to work and normal activities within a week or two, although strenuous exercise and heavy lifting should be avoided for several weeks.

Gynecomastia surgery is generally safe and effective when performed by a qualified and experienced plastic surgeon. However, as with any surgery, there are potential risks and complications, including bleeding, infection, scarring, and changes in nipple or breast sensation. It is important to discuss the potential risks and benefits of gynecomastia surgery with a qualified surgeon before deciding to undergo the procedure.
